The Morisawa Type Design Competition is a globally recognized award for typeface design. Since its establishment in 1984 as the “Morisawa Awards International Typeface Competition,” it has celebrated 40 years of discovering and fostering typeface designers while providing a platform to showcase exceptional design work.
This year’s competition expands its reach with the addition of Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Hangul categories, alongside the established Japanese and Latin categories, enabling entries in five languages.
The Fan Favorites Award is decided by public votes submitted through the competition website. It’s an opportunity for anyone to show their support for their favorite designs.
We encourage all design enthusiasts to participate and celebrate the creativity of these talented designers.

To maintain fairness, submissions are judged anonymously, and applicants’ names are not disclosed. We kindly ask that voters refrain from linking specific applicants to submissions during the voting process.
The results of the Fan Voting Award will be announced alongside the winners of the Morisawa Award.
